College of Business and Management

University Research Chairs

University Research Chairs serve as resources for our business and management faculty members. Each chairperson holds a doctoral degree and provides expertise in their discipline to faculty members teaching in that field. Chairpersons also encourage the scholarship activities of faculty members by sharing knowledge about professional associations, conferences, opportunities to publish works, and other academic activities. This enables our faculty members to become more active members of the academic community—ultimately enabling them to create the most productive and stimulating learning environments.

Jim Goes, Ph.D.

As University Research Chairs, our charge is to facilitate development of research capabilities in faculty members and act as a "sounding board" and mentor as they work to build research skills and publish. My personal goal is to help University of Phoenix and its faculty members build a greater awareness of and involvement in substantive, practitioner-focused research, which will in turn improve faculty members' professional standing, the quality of their teaching, and contribute to the advancement of their professions.

Jim Goes, PhD

Jim Goes, who holds a doctorate in strategic management, has worked for major corporations and held academic positions at state universities. He currently leads a management consulting practice. Dr. Goes has published articles in top management journals, presented at numerous professional conferences, and received awards from academic and professional organizations for his research. Dr. Goes teaches organizational theory, systems theory and advanced management topics. He also mentors more than a dozen University of Phoenix doctoral students.

Kevin Gazzara, DM

University Research Chairs help apply emerging research as a foundation for new curriculum. As a University Research Chair, my personal goal is to provide faculty members with awareness and insight into new organizational behavior research and theories. This enables recent research to be incorporated into learning. It also positions University of Phoenix to meet the needs of a new generation of leaders and managers in today’s global environment.

Kevin Gazzara, DM

Dr. Kevin Gazzara has worked in organizational development, product management, business development and marketing. He managed mentoring and leadership programs for a major technology corporation before launching a firm specializing in leadership and organizational development tools. Linda Mallory, EdD

I believe research is a critical component of academics. We are all charged with contributing to the body of knowledge of our disciplines. My goal as a University Research Chairperson is to expand dialogue between and among faculty members on our professional knowledge. I want us to discuss not only teaching strategies, but also the theories of our disciplines. Additionally, I want to engage our curriculum designers in thoughtful discussions on ways to make our already outstanding curriculum even better.

Linda Mallory, EdD

Dr. Linda Mallory has more than 25 years of experience in higher education, including positions in administration, senior leadership and teaching. She has presented at various state, regional and national conferences on applied statistics and education research. In addition to serving as a University Research Chairperson, Dr. Mallory has been a lead faculty member at University of Phoenix, where she teaches research methods and statistics, as well as business and management theory.

Sviatoslav Steve Seteroff, DBA

Encouraging faculty members to conduct research, publish, or present at professional or academic conferences is my goal as a University Research Chair. As part of that, I believe it is important for us to provide a clearing area for topical research. I see us as a forum for providing assistance to fellow faculty members in narrowing the problem and purpose statements in research and directing each other to relevant material. In this way, we can all learn from and assist one another.

Sviatoslav Steve Seteroff, DBA

Dr. Sviatoslav Seteroff has held a variety of positions in aerospace and technology organizations, from senior analyst, project manager and program manager to regional vice president. He also has more than 10 years of experience as founder and CEO of a consulting firm. Dr. Seteroff teaches organizational development, organizational leadership, research methods and other courses at University of Phoenix.
